Infrastructure for Rebuilding and Developing Countries 2007 Workshop

Overview

The USAID Office of Energy and Infrastructure sponsored a three-day workshop (see agenda) on Infrastructure for Rebuilding and Developing Countries in December 2007. The workshop focused on the role of infrastructure (water, power, communications, and transport) in advancing economic growth in USAID assisted countries. Topics covered during the workshop included:

  • Key trends in infrastructure in rebuilding and developing countries;
  • Successful models for infrastructure development used by development agencies, including USAID;
  • Contracting for infrastructure projects;
  • Role of regulation, finance, governance, and public participation in infrastructure;
  • Integrating infrastructure components into existing programs in other sectors and SOs, such as economic growth, democracy/governance, or agriculture.
